Although waxing has longer-lasting effects than shaving, laser hair removal trumps all of these traditional methods.

As opposed to shaving, waxing is one of the most sought after treatments in order to remove unwanted hair. It has longer lasting effects than shaving, but it is extremely painful and can cause a number of irritations and damage to the skin. This is why laser hair removal should be the most sought after method in removing unwanted hair. So, why is laser hair removal so much better than waxing?

There are a ton of reasons, and we are going to talk about them now.

The GentleMax Pro

At Bella Lisa Laser, we use the power of GentleMax Pro from Syneron Candela to perform laser hair removal procedures. This innovative laser is the gold standard in laser hair removal and is able to perform a variety of treatments with the same machine. The great thing about GentleMax Pro is that it has the ability to treat laser hair removal, pigmented lesions, vascular lesions, photorejuvenation, and even skin tightening. Results are consistent, so you can be sure to experience the same type of treatment whether you are removing unwanted hair or tightening your skin. GentleMax Pro uses two powerful lasers that deliver fast results which are the Alexandrite and the YAG. The reason two lasers are used for one machine is to ensure that customized results are delivered depending on the patient’s skin type, tone, and what type of skin issue they are treating. The lasers deliver a controlled amount of energy, that then destroys follicles or cells without damaging any surrounding skin.

Less Pain

Waxing can be extremely painful whether it is on your face, legs, or arms. Waxing is used to remove hair in a quick motion and while pulling out the follicles along with the hair. Many times, the after-effects of waxing hair can be worse than the initial removal. Many people experience swelling of the skin after waxing, due to the intense and quick removal of the hair with the wax. Laser hair removal, on the other hand, is a pain-free procedure with little to no downtime. The Gentle Max Pro laser targets the hair follicle at the very root and does not rip out of hair follicle like waxing does. A burst of energy and therapeutic heat is delivered through the layers of the skin to the follicle, and with more sessions following the last, it will ensure that the laser prevents the hair follicle from growing any more hair in the targeted area. To maximize comfort to the patient, there is a Dynamic Cooling Device which provides cooling cryogen to the treated area. This allows the laser hair removal treatment to be less painful, less invasive, and without the need for any downtime. Many people describe laser hair removal to feel like the quick snapping of a rubber band/

No Irritation

There are a few common irritations and side effects that come along with waxing. One of the most common is redness and irritation, which is caused by the quick removal of the hair follicle from the skin. Some people look to wax their hair as opposed to shaving due to the fact that shaving can cause pimples on the skin. But, waxing does this as well. When you wax your skin, you are leaving your pores open and susceptible to bacteria entering the pores. This can cause very uncomfortable and painful pimples on the skin, and can sometimes lead to more serious health concerns. Other side effects of waxing are skin infection, ingrown hairs, and in some cases an allergic reaction to the wax or aftercare creams. Luckily, with laser hair removal, you can have peace of mind when removing hair. The laser does not cause any ingrown hairs, pimples, allergic reactions, or leave pores open to bacteria. Also, if you are concerned about using products like gels or creams that may cause allergic reactions, you will not have anything to worry about with laser hair removal done with the GentleMax Pro. A gel is not used on the skin when removing hair with this machine and ensures no mess or irritation to patients.

Longer Lasting Results

Although waxing produces longer-lasting results than shaving does, waxing does not produce the same results that laser hair removal produces. Waxing removes the hair follicle along with the hair, but it does not destroy the hair follicle completely. With laser hair removal, the laser targets the hair follicle and destroys it. This ensures that future hair growth is stunted or prevented completely. Depending on the patient’s skin and hair type, the amount of sessions needed to permanently stop hair growth varies. On average, approximately four to six sessions spaced four weeks apart will ensure that up to 80 percent of the hair is removed. It is suggested that individuals looking to have more permanent results come in for a session at least once a year for a couple of years. Imagine being able to go without shaving or waxing for an entire year!
