Vascular Lesions

A vascular lesion is essentially a vascular malfunction of sort resulting in a type of skin growth, birthmark, and such. There are three main types of vascular lesions that we typically see: spider veins, hemangioma, and cherry angioma. What causes these lesions are abnormal blood vessels that become dense and show right on the skin surface. Vascular lesions are commonly caused by genetics, hormone imbalances or changes, injuries, or exposure to environmental factors.

At Bella Lisa Laser, we use the GentleMax Pro, from Syneron Candela to treat vascular lesions. The GentleMax Pro uses its 1064 nm Nd: YAG laser to target hemoglobin and oxyhemoglobin (the parts of cells which contribute to the lesions. When the laser is used in the targeted area, on the vascular lesion, it goes into the cells and heats them, thermal energy. This thermal energy is able to target the specific cells where the vascular damage is, and destroy the lesion in those tissues. As a bonus, this effect stimulates collagen production, which helps the skin regain elasticity and appear smoother.

To help with patient comfort the GentleMax Pro uses its patented DCD (dynamic cooling device) cryogen cooling system, to provide the patient with a gentle experience and the safest treatment.
